232 unique visitors!

Published on May 14, 2012 by in Website

Thank you so much for the many kind comments that I have received.  The site seems is growing in popularity every day. From one or two hits when I was initially building the site (which I’m still doing!) to over 232 unique visits yesterday – and to think that I wasn’t planning to ‘officially’ launch the site until the Parish Council AGM later this month.  If I was a computer programmer I’ll be calling this a ‘beta’.

As I have said to many people over email the site is not ‘my‘ site, it belongs to the village.  I’ll not be able to keep the site up to date and accurate by myself – it will involve a community effort.  Please support the site by providing me with information for the pages and news articles or, even better, offer to maintain a page(s).

Here’s a few other changes to the site that you may not have noticed:

  • New pages added for various groups I have been told about.
  • Various dates added including a number of school based dates.
  • 3 new photograph albums – landscape, buildings and wildlife – If you’d like to add photographs please let me know - currently most of the photographs are mine…
  • Various tweaks behind the scene to allow me to assign pages to contributors.
  • Other tweaks!

Looking forward to the site growing.

Andrew

Moulton Drama Group – Lark Rise

Published on May 11, 2012 by in Drama Group

TUESDAY 5 – 9 JUNE at MOULTON VILLAGE HALL, Main Road, Moulton

‘Lark Rise’ is Moulton Drama Group’s play for the Jubilee week. It is set on a single day in the year of Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee. The story is told by a young girl, Laura, who recalls the characters and rural life of her Oxfordshire village, Lark Rise. We see, through her eyes, the way the men worked the fields, shared stories, sang and danced and the everyday lives of the women. We visit many of the colourful characters of her memory like Queenie, Twister, traveling tinkers, Old Sally the Goose Girl, soldier John Price  returning from the Sudan and Major Shaman, living in fear of the workhouse.

Welcome Moulton Primary School Parents

Published on May 11, 2012 by in Website

Welcome to parents of children at Moulton Primary School.  I believe that the website was mentioned today in the school newsletter.  This is not my website, it is our website – the website is here to bring together all of those living and working with Moulton.  Here’s how you can help the website:

  • Report on a news story that is happening in the village or concerns one of our villagers.
  • Add events to the diary linked to the village.
  • Write information about one of the many clubs or groups that run in the village.  Please note that I’ve just added a few clubs I know about to the menu above – if you would like me to add your club please email me.
  • Let me know about a business that operates out of Moulton – let’s support those businesses that are local to us.
  • Provide photographs for sharing with other villagers.
  • Let other people know about our village site and how it will benefit them when it is fully up and running!
  • Anything else that will support our local community.
I will also be at the Parish Council AGM meeting if you would like more information or you can email me.  If you need training on how to use the site I can help you with that as well.  If you just want to provide information for me to put up on the site please email me and I’ll add it for you (but also try and convince you how easy it is to add yourself!)

I can be contacted at admin@moultonvillage.co.uk or leave a comment below.

Broadband Speeds – BT Infinity 2 now available in village

Published on May 7, 2012 by in News

BT have now announced BT Infinity 2 is available throughout the village for all BT users. As a bonus for current BT Infinity customers already you can upgrade to Infinity 2 for free providing you renew your contract.

BT Infinity brings broadband speeds of up to 38mb download and 9.5mb upload.
BT Infinity 2 brings broadband speeds of up to 76mb download and 19mb upload.

As a user already of BT Infinity I can confirm the speeds for BT Infinity as accurate (check your internet speed on www.speedtest.net) but I’m unable to get the full 76mb download speed at present (I average around 49mb).

More details on the BT Infinity website.

Anyone else use BT Infinity and tested their speed?

Charity Race Night

Published on May 2, 2012 by in PreSchool

Moulton Pre-School, have organised a charity Race Night, to be held at Moulton Royal British Legion on Saturday 16th June at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 pp, this includes a disco, buffet and ownership of a horse.

The Pre-School relies on fundraising to provide the children with play equipment.

There are a couple of ways you can help, the first is to buy yourself a ticket for the event and the second is to have a bet on our race card.

This is a bit like guess the name, we are selling squares on a card, each square costs £1 and each square has 3 numbers in it.

On race 7 if the horses that come in 1st,2nd and 3rd match your numbers. you will win the card. if we sell all the squares, you could win £150

If you are interested in buying tickets, placing a bet or even if you could donate something for our raffle on the night, please contact Jackie on 07736 243514

Thank You for all Your Support

Welcome to MoultonVillage.co.uk

Published on April 30, 2012 by in Test, Website

If you’ve visited this site after seeing the poster in the Co-Op – Welcome!  This site is an attempt to bring together everything that is happening in our vibrant village.  Hopefully you’ll want to help out with the site but if not I hope that you’ll use to site to find out what is happening in Moulton.

We are in the very early stages of setting up a voluntary website and we need a few people to help ‘test’ the site out.  If you are interested in helping out here are a few of the things you might want to do to help test the site:

  • Report on a news story that is happening in the village or concerns one of our villagers.
  • Add events to the diary linked to the village.
  • Write information about one of the many clubs or groups that run in the village.  Please note that I’ve just added a few clubs I know about to the menu above – if you would like me to add your club please email me.
  • Let me know about a business that operates out of Moulton – let’s support those businesses that are local to us.
  • Provide photographs for sharing with other villagers.
  • Let other people know about our village site and how it will benefit them when it is fully up and running!
  • Anything else that will support our local community.

If you are interested please email me and I’ll provide you with more information.  If you need training on how to use the site I can help you with that as well.  If you just want to provide information for me to put up on the site please email me and I’ll add it for you (but also try and convince you how easy it is to add yourself!)

I can be contacted at admin@moultonvillage.co.uk or leave a comment below.
